Rudy Bauer is a clinical psychologist and practioner of phenomenology and dzogchen awareness. Sharon is a psychotherapist and has practiced and taught meditation for 30 years.
The focus of the Washington Center for Consciousness Studies is to enhance the study and practice of becoming aware of the nature of our own awareness...of becoming conscious of consciousness itself. Utilizing the methods of dzogchen meditation and experiential phenomenology, we learn to enter into the innate immediate field of awareness and as we become the field of awareness, we become what we are. We can integrate our mind into this awareness field and we begin to think, feel and sense through the field. The field of awareness and its primordial qualities slowly become the organizer of our personality. These qualities are spaciousness, energy, luminosity and compassion.
Website and Seminars
The website of The Washington Center of Consciousness (http://www.meditatelive.com/) presents live video streamed seminars both on meditaton and on psychotherapy and healing. All of the seminars are archived and are free to be used by everyone. There are meditation seminars on the dzogchen awareness field as well as the skillful means of kashmir shavism and Qi Gong. We also have many hours of professional seminars on Existential phenomenological psychotherapy, gestalt psychotherapy, psychoanalytic intersubjective experience as well as Winnicott's transitional space. There are seminars that integrate the dzogchen awareness field into the art of relational psychotherapy as well as seminars on the phenomenology of awareness.
What is wonderful is that many viewer's describe experiencing the field in and through the seminars, even the archived seminars. Many of the lectures are also on itunes and can be easily accessed as podcasts.
Why a Blog?
Sharon and I wanted to have a place to allow discussions on the nature of awareness field, as well as put material online so that it can be easily downloaded. We intend to use our blog to provide new material, such as the practice texts of dzogchen, and extend out even further to the community. We hope you visit the website and experience the field and gain expertise in becoming aware of your own awareness and embody the field.
